17th June 2022: Dear Paul – I don’t know what to say: you were magnificent at Mum’s service this afternoon. From the moment we met you, you worked with our advanced plans for Mum’s service, giving us complete confidence that it was all achievable within the time we had at Upminster. The effort you put into reading the eulogy that Mum herself had written, was magical. Somehow, it all felt timeless, not a rush and, even though we were late to the venue, you moved over 200 people through the difficult and far-too-early farewell of our Queen, ending with some uplifting words for us to carry on celebrating her life afterwards. You visited us the very next day, took on board everything we wanted to say, and then took on all 7 personal tributes to read, pulling everything together for us on the 3rd day so as we had a day free before the Friday…and what a great job you did at reading some very emotional tributes. 31st October 2022: Dear Paul, We wanted to contact you and say a HUGE thank you for the amazing job you did in celebrating L’s life and for giving him a unique and wonderful send off. He would have ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
So many friends and family have said that despite the circumstances, the farewell was extremely special. .and they’ve never been to anything like it – A true and brilliant testament to him… Happy, funny, sad, and full of cheeky banter and great music.
I appreciate that our side of the family weren’t technically your clients, but we all felt welcomed by you – and heard… Something we are eternally grateful for.
The family (as you know and like so many) are fragmented and grieving. No doubt you’ve seen it all before – but thank you again for your patience, genuine care and fairness.
We were extremely proud of how it all came together on the day and how the love for L united a packed chapel for his special day. That was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to deal with. 3rd January 2023: Good evening Paul. Thank you again for all your help putting things together – summarising a lifetime into just a few minutes seemed like it should be an impossible task, but there was some nice feedback from people who attended, and N sent me some of the feedback that was posted here and there, and it seems like people who watched online also felt it was a good send off, so I suppose we can’t ask for much more than that.
I was honestly surprised how many people took a minute to write a note before they left. I suppose I shouldn’t have been really – there were people there who’d known him for years, but hadn’t seen one another in person in a while for various reasons. In any case, thank you for allowing space for that to happen – I think it may have meant more to some of the people there than I had expected it to.

It was very fitting, and he would have been very happy with how everything went. I was really surprised with how many people came to give their respects, and everyone praised just how beautifully you conducted the entire service. For many, it was their first experience of a Celebrant-led Funeral – and one person remarked that they loved how it was much more about Cliff and his character. 6th February 2024: I’m so glad that I found Paul on the Celebrant Directory to lead my father’s funeral last week. I wanted someone who dad would’ve liked and related to, and Paul was the perfect match. Paul came to my dads house to chat to us for a long as it took to get the full 360 about my dad’s life. He also spoke to my uncle about my dad’s earlier years… my uncle thought he was great. Paul went away and wrote a beautiful eulogy, it was as if he had known him for years. Paul was amazing on the day of the funeral, he was waiting with our family and friends outside. He lead the service beautifully, everyone thought it was a wonderful and moving tribute. 29th April 2024: Paul. What can I say? That was excellent – you certainly did A, and us proud today. That was something else! I’ve been to so many Funerals – all kinds – and some of them, you just want it to be over with. But you owned it all: The way you spoke, the energy you created, getting 100 people to sing along to a Buddy Holly tune – you just let it all flow, and didn’t tone the words down. 20th May 2024: Paul, we just wanted to pass on our thanks again for conducting just a gentle and appropriate service for G at Three Counties Crematorium. Even though I didn’t have e-mail, the fact that you rang up to go through the service to give us peace of mind before the day itself was so kind.

When you met with us, we weren’t sure how much Mum would be able to cope with, but she absolutely loved you and you gently got so much out of her…and that really helped knowing she wouldn’t be able to attend the service on the day itself. Incredible that you were been able to put together so well all those memories – but what you did was amazing and you delivered it in a way which made all of us smile that sunny afternoon. 19th June 2024: Thank you for a lovely service, Paul. We know that there were a lot of words – and a lot of people – and one small tribute got missed. You were so kind in acknowledging that, but of the day itself, we wouldn’t have been more pleased with how it went and for how well you delivered and managed an entire hour of Kevin!
20th June 2024: Paul, what can we say? We didn’t want anyone else looking after us but you. Your idea of having a glass of wine ready for everyone in the service (such a Peggy thing!) to do a toast was amazing. Seamlessly yet beautifully flowing from the toast to the The Lord’s Prayer…whilst most people still had a glass in hand….Mum would have been over the moon. I just wanted to say a very big thank you very much for a wonderful service for my Dad yesterday. We all thought it was perfect in every way and so many people said that how wonderfully you captured him. He would have been so pleased with the way things went. Paul, Mum and I are totally appreciative of all that you have done for us, and helping to make what could have been a difficult day a real celebration of his wife. He will be looking down with a smile on his face. I will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone who is after a celebrant for any funeral service they might be arranging Many thanks again Paul.

From meeting you on 23rd, to finalising everything on 26th, you bought everything that had been our hope to life and Dad loved you. You made him so proud on the day. 4th September. Hi Paul, After leading June’s service back in 2021, we were very happy that you were available to help and support us again as we laid her son, our cousin, Michael to rest today. You took onboard everything we wanted the service to be, and it was just beautiful. We were the last service of the day too, which added to the ‘quiet, peaceful’ feeling we wished for. As many people said, it was ‘just perfect’ for Michael and he is now back with his Mum, Dad, and Brother. Thank you for putting together such a thoughtful and gentle service. Ian & Karen.

29th November 2024: Paul, we just wanted to thank you for supporting us (your school friends) as we said goodbye to our Dad, Paul, who you’d also known quite well. It was a big afternoon and a huge turnout – but you managed all our stories, putting them together in such a great way that it bought Dad’s character to life for one final time that Friday afternoon. 11th December 2024: Paul – your service for Dad was impeccably delivered at Woollensbrook on Wednesday 11th. Both yourself and the Funeral Director were totally beyond professional, and so deeply respectful throughout. When we met, you got so many lovely stories out of me when I didn’t think I’d be able to tell you many at all; you just have a natural way of making people feel at ease during such a difficult time. When my wife and I read your draft service, we were in tears with how beautiful it was. Your words ensured there wasn’t a dry eye in the chapel as we said our farewells; and across all the generations of the family, and the many relatives in attendance, I can say that your words touched all of us. It was extremely well written (and well spoken) by you, leading us through almost an hour our celebrating our Dad’s achievements as we said our final farewells. We all thought the day went really well, and since then, we have had many compliments – not only from those who attended – but also from those who watched the service on line. It meant a lot to us, not only for you to have planned the service as well as you did, but also for you to have accepted our invitation to come along to the wake.

We only worked together for 7 days to bring Saj’s funeral together, but you have been amazing.
